A Trek to Serenity - Our Fun trip to Munnar

We recently did a backpacking trip to Munnar, the Kashmir of South India. To experience the real fun of backpacking, we chose to go by bus. We started our journey from college at 4 pm and stopped in between at around 9 pm to have our dinner at the famous restaurant Ali Baba. As the bus started going up the high-range hills, we quickly felt the drop in temperature. The cool breeze drifting in from the window of the bus was refreshing and soothing. The temperature at night could fall below Zero degree Celsius.

We stayed at The Munnar Tea Country Resort and had a really awesome experience. With the kind of beautiful scenic views offered, this resort was undoubtedly one of the best experiences we ever had. We spent the night walking around the resort and talking some business in between. Tea Country Resort has a beautiful amphitheater and a view point where you can sit, relax and talk, enjoying the pleasant climate.

Next day morning, we woke up listening to the chirping sounds of birds. The first thing we did in the morning was to go for a walk through the tea estates. The resort management offers guided tours through the tea garden but we chose to explore the place all by ourselves. We totally enjoyed the sunrise and the weather out there. We were joined by a lot of other tourists, especially foreigners. Walking around, exploring the unpaved muddy routes along the tea estates was indeed an unusual event and a first experience for most of us.

We went to many landmark attractions in Munnar like the Tea Museum, Mattuppetty dam, Dreamland etc. Another important attraction you don't want to miss in Munnar is Eravikulam National Park.

After a full day of city tour, we bid good bye to Munnar and took our return buses, with a pledge to come back to Munnar once again in the near future, with our families!
