Winning four Best Manager Awards Taught Me This

Bensun Thomas receiving Best Manager Title from Mrs.Sheelamma Scaria

The Best part of being a student is never found in the moments that are found in solitude, but in the moments that are shared. For two years I was not just a roll number (K06028) but a character that constantly kept finding new roles to play, with brilliant teachers and fun students. One of the best platforms to broaden your horizons and challenge yourself is the Best Manager event. Winning four Best Manager Titles at the flagship programmes in 4 different Universities, (Jain University, Amrita University, GRG PSG University and Calicut University), has not only made me realise the tremendous influence XIME has had on me but also made me realise that I have found ways to win while earning my competitors respect. As much as people will tell you that it is a Man-Eat-Man-World out there, I have always found heart in the most unexpected of all places. In all the 4 competitions, not only did I try helping out my co-competitors but also did not hesitate asking for help.

The Best Manager event is the perfect place to find the balance between pressure and fun. The induced insomnia with the gruelling night tasks or the fun treasure hunt, the making of PowerPoint or its Presentation, all of it puts you in the spotlight to think on your feet. As a management event, most rounds are associated with the major streams such as Marketing, Operations, HR and Finance. Getting to ‘role play’ as the CEO of a great company or a Manager of a company that has wronged the stakeholders, it is finally all about how you stand your ground and have your moral compass always pointing North.

But mostly, I ask anybody who is reading this, Participate just so you reach the final round - The Stress Round. It is a whole new level of experience. Nothing that words can describe. As they say, some things NEED to be felt than explained.
