Innovation in Teaching Practice – Live Share trading
The innovation in teaching practice can benefit immensely when educators thoughtfully experiment and apply new or different pedagogical approaches, technologies, course design, etc. in the classrooms or beyond. XIME has adopted innovation in education through student engagement with the real-world which encourages students to explore, research and develop problem solving and decision-making skills.
Corporate
Finance is a core paper offering in the third
trimester in XIME that deals with sources of funding, the capital structure of
corporations, the actions that managers take to increase the value of the
firm to the shareholders and the tools and analysis used to allocate
financial resources. The primary goal of Corporate Finance is to maximize the
shareholders’ value.
As a part of the curriculum of Corporate Finance, an initiative on
share trading activity in the classroom has taken place by the faculty for the
students of batch 7. The basic intention of this initiative is to gain more
knowledge and practical exposure in the Stock market and how to take an
investment decision by valuing a share considering its risk and return using
appropriate tools and techniques.
All the students with mutual consent contributed Rs. 500 each for investing
in shares. The batch has opened two Demat accounts with the stockbroker,
Zerodha with a total amount of Rs. 33000 (Rs. 16500 each for section A &
B). The students were divided into 5 teams and each team will allow undertaking
share trading for a week and then the next team takes over. Towards the end of
the trimester, the shares would be sold off and the amount would be shared by
all equally.
