ONAM
CELEBRATION
Onam, the state festival of Kerala, is celebrated with joy and
enthusiasm by people of all communities. XIME Kochi campus celebrated Onam,
“AARAVAM 2022” on September 6, 2022 wherein the faculties, staff and students
were dressed in the traditional attires. An elegant ‘Pookalam” and the
traditional “Onasadhya” was very much part of the celebration.

The celebration began with an Onam message by Prof.
A S Girish. This was followed by games and contests such as Malayali Manga and
Kerala Sreeman, Onapattu, Break the Pot, Tug of War, Fill the bottle (a water
game in which the team which fills a bottle with water, using only their hand,
won). There were also programs like the group song by the students of batch 10,
during which King Mahabali was also welcomed. The students also danced to the
beats of ‘Chendamelam’. Girls of batch 9 and 10 graced the occasion with a
Thiruvathira performance. Awards were also distributed to all the winners of
the competitions. The colourful and lively celebrations wound up with students
dancing their hearts out to the beat of Chendamelam and some peppy beats.
